Katharina Kretzschmar

Katharina Kretzschmar studied contemporary literature, contemporary history and east-European history at the Free University of Berlin. She finished her master´s thesis in an interdisciplinary study about life and work of Walther Serner, a Jewish author and DADAist. During her studies and stays abroad in Russia and Morocco she became interested in oral and social history, collective, individual and cultural memory, the relation between history and identity. She is currently working on her PhD in contemporary history at the Technical University of Berlin with the doctoral thesis: Identity in conflict – the meaning of intergenerational narration for the identity and the self-perception of Palestinian and Palestinian-Israeli students and graduates in Germany.

Oral History, Biographical Interviews, Collective and Individual Identities, Collective and Communicative Memory, Long-term Effects of Trauma and Inherited Trauma, Migration Processes, Contemporary Forms and Functions of Antisemitism and Islamophobia
