Short CV

Ayman Yousef is Professor in political sciences and international relations at the Arab- American university in Palestine. He got his PhD in Middle Eastern Studies from the M.S university in Baroda, India in 2000 and he obtained Fulbright fellowship to study the US foreign policy in South Carolina in 2002. He published articles in many local , regional and international journals. His research interests are Palestine question, political elites, civil society, student and youth movement, democratization , the US strategies in the Gulf and the Middle East. He likes to volunteer in international projects. He got many international awards to travel abroad including Erasmus Mondos fellowship to Brussels in 2009, Amidesat fellowship in 2010, Marie Currie fellowship to Coventry in 2013 . Very recently He started developing deep interest in studying the Palestinian youth and student movement and their role in social change and democracy in Palestine. He has already published one full research paper in Al – Quds Open University peer reviewed journal in 2011. Although he does not have publications to tackle the issue of Trauma at political level, still he believes that trauma is wide interdisciplinary concept that to be dealt with at all fronts including the political one. Bloody clashes with the occupation in the Palestinian territories and other polices of torture, including security check points at the roads, night arrest and other policies, all that created conducive environment for traumatized Palestinians especially children and jailed people. Therefore he believes that he has to provide a sort of partial remedy for this phenomenon at the Palestinian level by adopting popular non – violent resistance as new tool for liberation to save lives and resources.
